Position type: Non-Exempt

 

Position Overview: The successful candidate will be working in the Materials Analysis Laboratory of Global Tungsten & Powders Corp (GTP). This position will be responsible for the analysis, calculation of results and calibration and maintenance of analytical instrumentation while following written procedures. This position will follow the department's quality manual, A2LA ISO17025 accreditation policies and ethical policies. The incumbent will analyze production, R&D and raw material samples using proper lab equipment & techniques. Be capable of chemistry and mathematical knowledge to research possible developments and improvements in the applications. Also use this knowledge to manufacture high purity standards and controls to be used in the laboratory. Maintain 5S and LEAN practices of assigned area(s), instruments, and equipment. Observe company policies at all times. Ensure compliance with prescribed safety practices and quality work standards. Direct, train, and instruct employees whenever necessary to effectively complete work assignments. The work environment is team oriented with primary focus on efficiency, quality and cycle time.

Responsibilities Would Include:

  • Receive and process samples to identify suitability and determine appropriate test methods. Follow laboratory specifications to complete the tests in a timely manner. Maintain quality, dynamic cycle times (DCT) within the department.
  • Update all SPC data; error logs, maintenance logs, inventories for the lab. Instrument Maintenance, troubleshoot and repair with manufacturer assistance.
  • Develop and improve analytical techniques using chemical knowledge and current GTP instrumentation. Be capable to use chemistry and mathematical knowledge to research possible developments and improvements in the applications.
  • Participate in analysis of trace elements in company waste disposal according to DEP guidelines. Excellent computer skills, communication and team skills. Experience in Analytical Laboratory is a plus. Train and instruct employees to effectively analyze samples and complete work assignments.
  • Flexible to adjust schedule as needed and capable of handling high volume, high work pressure with quick turnaround in analysis. Weekend support will be required. Ability to adjust to an ever changing and fast pace environment.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Chemistry or equivalent or lab experience is preferred but not required. Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or equivalent is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry concepts, practices and procedures. Knowledge of chemical lab skills.
  • Knowledge of chemical hazards and safe acid and base handling.
  • Pass visual, hearing, and physical tests. SAP proficient. Microsoft Office proficient. SPC knowledge required. Proper and safe lab skills required.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident required.
