Three Days of Open Training Center

Insight into the Training at the Plansee Group

Get to know the modern and versatile training at the Plansee Group and gain insight into the daily life of the apprentices: Shortly before the first Advent, the training center of the Plansee Group at the Reutte/Breitenwang location opened its doors for the first time for three days to interested students and curious guests.

A total of nearly 1,000 people took the opportunity to visit the largest and most modern training center in the Außerfern region at the Reutte location between November 30 and December 2, 2023. Currently, 125 apprentices are being trained there in professions such as metal technology, electrical engineering, process technology, materials technology, and laboratory technology for Plansee and CERATIZIT. For the first time, they were able to present their company, their activities, and their training workshops to interested visitors together with the entire training team of the Plansee Group during the three open days. "We want to take this opportunity to show who we are as a company, what our training looks like, and how interested students can join us," summarizes Joachim Resch, Head of Vocational Training and Education. On Thursday and Friday, nearly 600 students from the Außerfern region and the neighboring Allgäu came to Reutte to see from the apprentices how their daily work looks like in the training center and what the various apprenticeships entail.

Visitors Brave the Snow

On Saturday, the doors were then open to all interested parties. Around 400 visitors took the opportunity – and braved the heavy snowfall. Guests included mainly employees, families of potential future apprentices, or relatives who wanted to see where their son or daughter works and learns daily.

The highly motivated apprentices from the first and second years of training proudly showed not only how to mill, grind, or turn metals – they also actively helped organize the visitor days: whether it was conducting tours on their own, providing refreshments together with the team from the company restaurant "Kulinario," or doing patrols with the plant security. Guests could actively participate in experiment stations, the photo booth, and skill challenges. Thanks to sweet and savory snacks and small giveaways like a sharpener made with the CNC machine, including a pen with individual name engraving, everyone went home satisfied and full despite the icy journey.

About the Plansee Group: Focus on Molybdenum and Tungsten

With its products, the Plansee Group enables applications at the cutting edge of what is technically and physically feasible – in electronics, medical technology, energy supply, mechanical engineering, the construction industry, mobility, and security and defense.

Headquartered in Reutte, Tyrol, the group specializes in the powder metallurgical processing of the high-performance materials molybdenum and tungsten. The value chain extends from the processing of scrap and ore concentrates through the manufacture of intermediate products and blanks to the development and production of customer-specific components and tools.

The Plansee Group, with its parent company Plansee Holding AG, unites two strong business areas:
·    Plansee High-Performance Materials, specializing in metallic products made of molybdenum and tungsten.
·    Ceratizit, focused on tools made of hard metal (tungsten carbide) for the trades, machining, and industrial manufacturing.

The Plansee Group ensures long-term security of supply for its key materials through recycling and long-term partnerships with mining operators. The Plansee Group holds a 31 percent stake in the Chilean molybdenum processor Molymet and a 10 percent stake in the tungsten mining operator Almonty.

With 11,120 employees at 36 production sites, the Plansee Group generated consolidated revenue of 2.35 billion euros in fiscal year 2025/26. The fiscal year ends on the last day of February.
