Position Overview: The Junior SQL Programmer is responsible for supporting database-related development, maintenance and optimization tasks.  Working under the guidance of the database administrator, this role involves writing SQL queries, stored procedures and scripts to extract, manipulate and analyze data.  The junior programmer assists in ensuring data integrity, improving database performance and supporting business execution and reporting efforts.

Responsibilities Would Include:

  • Write and maintain SQL scripts, queries, views and stored procedures.
  • Support the development of data-driven applications and reports. Assist with database performance and optimization.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SQL-related issues and errors.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions. Participate in code reviews and adhere to coding standards and best practices.
  • Document processes, queries and technical specifications as needed. Conduct data validation and quality checks.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field preferred. 1-2 years relevant experience.
  • Basic proficiency in SQL.
  • Understanding of relational database concepts and data normalization.
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies and business processes.
