Paul Schwarzkopf Private Foundation: Support for Young People in the Reutte District

The Paul Schwarzkopf Private Foundation supports young people from the Reutte district who pursue vocational or academic education outside the region.

For over 50 years, the Paul Schwarzkopf Private Foundation has been committed to supporting students from the Reutte region. This non-profit foundation was established in 1972 by Walter M. Schwarzkopf and Mary Schwarzkopf to honor the memory of Paul Schwarzkopf, the founder of the Plansee metalworks. The goal is to provide financial assistance to young people who meet the foundation’s eligibility criteria.

The amount of funding awarded depends on the number of applicants and their field of study. Each year, approximately €150,000 is distributed to around 120 pupils and students. Applications to the foundation can be submitted annually.

Proceeds from Collector Coin Sales Support the Foundation

For over 20 years, Plansee has enabled the creation of vibrant surfaces for the 25-euro silver-niobium coins produced by the Austrian Mint (more on this at Plansee). These coins often have significant collector value. The first coin, “700 Years of the City of Hall,” is now worth many times its original issue price. Since 2015, silver-niobium coins have won the prestigious “Coin of the Year Award” nine times in the “Best Bi-Metallic Coin” category.

Employees and retirees can purchase the newly issued collector coins each year at the Austrian Mint’s issue price. All proceeds from this Plansee allocation go directly to the Paul Schwarzkopf Private Foundation.
