POSITION SUMMARY: The Technical Quotations Specialist will be the bridge between our sales team, technical engineers, and valued customers by creating precise technical and commercial proposals for advanced cutting tools and customized tooling solutions. Your professional and analytical skills will be used to analyze customer requirements and deliver timely, accurate information that maintains CERATIZIT’s competitiveness in the marketplace while maintaining high quality standards and delivery performance. You will be responsible for pricing special tools and tooling packages, ensuring that pricing is consistently in line with CERATIZIT’s profitability and financial targets and is competitive within the market. In addition, you are empowered to drive continuous improvement activities and improve processes aimed at simplifying working procedures and strengthen collaboration across other teams throughout the organization as well as with external suppliers and partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Support small and large custom tooling programs from initial customer inquiry and concept development through quotation, order placement, and tool delivery. This includes generating and maintaining accurate quotations, calculating new tool cost estimates, and reviewing existing tooling to ensure target margins are consistently achieved.
- Lead and coordinate quotation activities across the team to deliver timely, accurate, and commercially sound quotes for both existing customers and new business opportunities.
- Provide effective, proactive communication with customers and CERATIZIT’s Sales Engineers to manage customer expectations, timelines, and technical requirements throughout the quotation and ordering process.
- Interface internally with support staff, in conjunction with sales engineers, on issues of pricing, application engineering, design engineering and order processing to create positive customer experiences.
- Interface directly with end users at customer facilities and technical centers as needed to support tooling applications, technical discussions, and ensure project alignment.
- Act as a liaison between CERATIZIT subsidiaries and external suppliers on issues relating to custom-engineered product orders and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain positive and open communication regarding the coordination of quotations with engineering and manufacturing teams across the company as well as third-party suppliers.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve robust quotation processes and procedures with the focus on quotation consistency in the areas of: RFQ validity and verification, Bill of Material (BOM) accuracy, technical drawing validations, historical cost references, and final cost data and documentation.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related discipline) or equivalent combination of education and hands‑on industry experience.
- 10+ years of experience in cutting tool and tooling solutions, with proven expertise in the application of metalworking tools across a range of materials and manufacturing processes.
- Strong technical knowledge of metal cutting tooling, machining applications, and workpiece materials, supported by solid analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving capabilities.
- ERP experience preferred (SAP strongly desired) with the ability to work accurately in structured quoting, costing, and order-management systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), with the ability to analyze data, prepare professional communications, and support cross‑functional collaboration.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams, while also demonstrating initiative and accountability when working independently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen actively, convey technical information clearly, and engage effectively with customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders.
- High level of urgency, adaptability, and resilience, with the ability to perform effectively under time pressure and manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
- Commercially astute and customer‑centric, with an understanding of margin management, value engineering, and long‑term customer relationships.
- Excellent organizational, time‑management, and prioritization skills, with attention to detail and a structured, process‑driven approach.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
These positions may require 10% travel, including occasional overnight stays. A valid driver's license is required.
