Position type: ExemptThe Quality Engineer is responsible to maintain and improve manufacturing/supply process by determining opportunities for improvement and driving initiatives to implement effective corrective actions. The Quality Engineer is also responsible for the assurance of quality of products and services procured for Plansee USA by proactive External Provider performance relationship management.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Lead cross functional teams in the investigation and troubleshooting of product and/or production issues. Develop and implement effective corrective actions, solutions, and improvements.
- Support Operations by developing and implementing quality standards, quality control systems, and by monitoring and analyzing quality performance.
- Work collaboratively with Purchasing to compile scorecards of Critical External Provider (CEP) on-time delivery and quality performance and on a quarterly basis and distribute internally.
- Work collaboratively with Purchasing in the qualification of CEP’s and ongoing management of critical supplier list and associated documentation providing evidence of qualification status.
- Plan, schedule and execute audits of potential and existing CEP quality systems and operations to determine capabilities and assess risks to supply chain integrity.
- Formulate and manage execution of corrective actions and improvement plans to driver critical supplier performance and reduce risks/identify opportunities in a timely manner.
- Manage external provider non-conformances through SAP Q2 notification system.
- Participate in internal process-based auditing and customer, external, and third-party audits.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering and 2-5 years or Associate’s degree and 8-10 years of demonstrated experience in leading formalized product/process improvements, and external provider relationship management in a manufacturing environment.
- Lead auditor/CQA/CQE certification desired.
- Experience working within an ISO9001:2015 and AS9100:2016 quality certified organization and application of those standards to the management of external providers.
- Demonstrated proficiency with quality system tools such as 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa diagram, control charts and Pareto charts, structured analytical tools and methodologies (SPC, pFEMA) and management techniques such as Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5s.
- Proficiency with risk management tools and ability to plan actions needed to address risks, integrate actions into QMS and evaluate actions for effectiveness.
- Effective organizational, oral presentation, interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
- Experience with MS Office Suite and process modeling and visualization tools (i.e., Visio); experience with SAP R/3 preferred.
- Familiarity with ITAR and EAR regulations and compliance.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
The base compensation range for this position is between 75-95k annually, commensurate with skill and experience level. This role will also be bonus eligible.
